Do you know the difference between Pendix, Bafang and Bosch?
In the following post and video, we want to show the main differences so that you know the answer to this question. It is also transferable to other drive systems on the market. With this clarity about the different drive systems, you can choose the right drive set for you and your needs.
Flexibility
A Pendix mid-motor can be retrofitted to almost any bike. The same applies to a Bafang BBS mid-motor. For a Bosch mid-motor the frame of the bike is completely adapted to the motor. So you will never be able to fit another motor in such a bike. This also means that you are limited to the brands and frame shapes that work together with Bosch.
Rideability
A Bafang mid-motor reacts to the rotation of the pedals, not to the force you exert on the pedals. Because of this a Bafang motor feel a bit more unnatural. A Pendix motor, on the other hand, is actually designed to feel as natural as possible. With a Pendix motor, you often don't even realise you are cycling with pedal assistance - until you switch off the motor.
After Sales Service
When buying electronic items, you should always look at the after-sales service. Pendix has a large network of dealers in the Netherlands and offers excellent service and a secure supply of spare parts. In the event of a fault, you can already make your own diagnosis via an app. Updates are also available via the app. The motor is gearless, so the system is maintenance-free. Bosch also offers a good service with a reliable supply of spare parts. The motor has to go to the dealer regularly for maintenance.
